After an extensive pre-tender and tender process, we are delighted to announce that Balicrest Ltd has been selected as the contractor for the first phase of work at Rayners Penn. This phase will involve the dismantling and recycling of the outdated and unsightly 1960s buildings and the dilapidated outbuildings, which have received approval for full or partial deconstruction.

The deconstruction and recycling will commence the week of March 24th. It will consist of asbestos removal as a first step, building strip-out and subsequently the dismantling of the 1960s extension and outbuildings, in accordance with the planning permission. The 1960s Headmasters House, along the boundary of Church Road, will be one of the first buildings affected.
The decommissioning will be carefully undertaken and Balicrest Ltd will be utilising brick dust suppression measures to limit the escape of brick dust. These measures are not always 100% effective due to weather conditions and other factors but every effort will be made to keep brick dust to an absolute minimum.

At the heart of the Rayners Penn revival is sustainability and therefore throughout this phase, the focus will be on maximising the recycling of materials for re-use on-site while minimising landfill waste. The project includes very ambitious BREEAM targets and the team at Rayners are committed to meeting them.

At the same time, the preservation of the heritage buildings on-site is crucial. In areas where dismantling work is in close proximity to or attached to heritage buildings, every effort will be made to protect and maintain their integrity and preserve their incredible history. This commitment extends to other listed structures across the estate which will be carefully fenced off to ensure a safe distance from any construction.
We hope you share our excitement for this Rayners Penn milestone which signals the start of on-site work and sets the stage for the project’s ambitious journey ahead.
